Mounted RescueThe Humane Society recently began working with the East Fork State Park Mounted Search and Rescue on incidents where horses are involved. The Mounted Rescue is a non-profit group that assists various agencies in this area. A few weeks ago they were of great assistance when we received a call concerning an abandoned horse. We were able to find a good home for the animal, and look forward to using the Rescue as a resource in the future. The East Fork State Park Volunteer Mounted Search and Rescue began its existence early in the summer of 1994. The team was started from a desire to do something community oriented that included horses. By February of 1995 we were incorporated with a written policy and procedures manual, and a membership numbered in the upper 30's. We are strictly volunteer, we hold fund raisers and sometimes receive donations to buy equipment, such as radios and medical packs and pay for an occasional instructor. Each member buys their own required equipment and often pays for specialized training we may be offered.
